Homework provides pupils with the opportunity to consolidate their learning, and to develop self-organisation and research skills. It also allows parents to keep in touch with and contribute to their children’s learning and progress. Homework starts in very simple ways in the early years and develops as the children move up through the school. At all levels, reading forms an important part of the homework routine. Teachers take care to set no more than a reasonable amount of homework; too much can be burdensome and counterproductive, and can prevent pupils from pursuing their musical, sporting and other hobbies and interests. |
