Learning is for life, and we aim to inspire a love of learning in our pupils. To do this, we employ expert teachers for whom education of young children is a vocation as well as a profession, offer a curriculum which is rigorous, rich and diverse, and teach the children to become self-motivated, effective learners in a disciplined, harmonious environment.
Many teaching and learning methods are used: many are traditional, tried and tested, but we have also developed newer, very effective approaches, some based on ICT, others on research in learning theory, and specialist teaching is widely used.
A key to effective teaching is differentiation – recognising that every child has different strengths and weaknesses, and needs subtly different approaches and challenges to maximise progress, and then providing for this by setting different tasks and challenges to different pupils or groups, and by setting (for maths) and providing interesting and challenging extension work.
