Every child has great potential and the capacity for excellence, be it
academic, physical or creative, and at St. Helen’s College it is our mission to
help the children discover and develop their own excellence. We place great
emphasis on activities which bring out the best in children.
To develop confidence and good speech we encourage children to give
presentations in class and in assembly, and pupils make speeches at Sports
Days and other public events. Drama, stage work and poetry recitation feature
highly in our pupils’ school lives, and all will perform to parents regularly.
Musical
opportunities abound: children from the age of three learn to play instruments
(nine instruments are taught by specialist teachers); half of the children in the
school have chosen to join one of our three choirs; and children meet regularly
to play in ensembles and the orchestra. Sports, particularly team games,
play a key part of the weekly routine and promote physical health as well as
developing a spirit of competition and the ability to work together.
Participation
in sport is very high indeed, and keen children can represent St. Helen’s in our
(usually very successful) teams in a wide range of sports.
We offer children three residential trips, a summer school, many day outings, and
a very wide range of extra-curricular activities so that children have a variety of
opportunities to discover and develop their strengths, and to enrich their learning.
St Helen’s College is a co-educational independent prep school in Hillingdon. We encourage the outward development of a child. |
