The latest edition of St. Helen's Voice was sent home on Wednesday with your children. Do take time to browse through it - it will give you a flavour of St. Helen's life from the inside as almost all articles have been written by the children.
Hot meal and co-curricular booking forms for the first half of next term have now been posted to the All School Documents page of the website and can be accessed by clicking here. There is, as always, a fantastic range of co-curricular options for the children and we hope that all will get involved in at least one activity.
We are not sending these documents home in hard copy so please print the booking forms from the website. Please note that these must be returned to the School Office at Upper or Lower School by the dates shown below:
Hot meal booking form - Monday 3rd December
Co-curricular booking form - Wednesday 5th December
Confirmation of places for co-curricular activities will be sent home on 12th December.
Four of our expert mathematicians from Year 6 - Brendan, Fayotomi, Aniket and Reenal - have started a 'maths clinic' for children in Years 3 and 4. The first session was held today and the children who went said that they found it very helpful.
The clinic will run each Friday from 8.00 to 8.30 a.m. in the library. Any child in Year 3 or Year 4 who would like some help with any tricky maths should go along. The four leaders are very keen to help, and have a lovely manner with the younger children.
The trumpet has been a popular and successful instrument over many years at St. Helen's, but the number of players has dropped in recent months. We are very keen to encourage new players to take up this exciting instrument so we are pleased to announce a special Christmas promotion.
Five children who start lessons at school in January will have FREE LESSONS for the first term.
This offer is open to children in Year 2 and above. You will need to provide your own instrument, but trumpets can be hired at a very reasonable price from good music stores such as Dawkes.
Please let Mrs. Allery know if you would like to take up this unique offer. Only five places are available, and it will be first come first served.
We hope you are all looking forward to the Christmas Parties tomorrow! Please do not forget your ticket. Santa will be making a special appearance and your child will have the opportunity to have a photo taken with Santa and his special helper for £2. We also have a raffle with a fantastic first prize so do bring some change.
Please see a reminder for times below. The party is at the Uxbridge Sports and Leisure Complex in the Conference Centre, adjacent to the outdoor sports track. Hope to see you all there!
12- 1.30 pm - Nursery and Reception
2pm to 3.30pm - Years 1-3
4pm to 5.30pm - Years 4-6
End of Term Events
We trust that last week’s letter about end of term events is securely fastened to your fridge or notice board at home! Please keep an eye on it as lots will be happening over the next few weeks. The letter is attached below just in case you have mislaid the original.
In particular, please note that children should be dropped at the Winston Churchill Hall (Pinn Way, Ruislip) between 8:00 and 8:40 a.m. on Thursday 6th December as they will all be watching the Year 3 and 4 Christmas show. Children will return to school by coach after the show, in time for lunch.
Please also note that there was an error in the published timings of the Lower School Christmas assemblies on Friday 7th December. The correct timing is as follows:
9.00 a.m. Nursery Christmas Assembly
9.30 a.m. Reception Nativity Play
10.00 a.m. Infant Choir performing
10.10 a.m. Year 1 Christmas Assembly
Year 3 and 4 Christmas Concert photographs will be taken on Thursday 6th December during rehearsals. Images will be made available to you without obligation and you will be able to purchase them if you so wish.
On Tuesday 11th December the Pabulum hot meal will be a Christmas Lunch. We mention this so that parents of children who will be having packed lunches have the opportunity to plan a Christmas themed packed lunch, if they so wish.
On Thursday 13th the children at Lower School will be having their Christmas Party, so this is also a day when they can bring Christmas extras for their lunches, whether hot or packed lunch.
Holiday Club will run from December 14th - 21st. Please complete and return the booking form below if you would like to book your child(ren) in for any or all of these days. The form should be returned by Monday 3rd December; if you would like to check availability after this time please telephone the school.
