Our structural engineer has recently advised us that, as the buildings sit on shrinkable clay, substantial foundations and extensive underpinning will be required. In order to allow these extra works to take place, we will need to move the library to Cambria and vacate Windsor earlier than expected, during the February half term. There will be significant knock on effects which will require some re-timetabling, the relocation of music teaching and the use of every nook and cranny for storage. These pressures will be temporary - the art studio will be ready for occupation (initially by music) in April and the works are due to be completed during the summer holidays.
However, while these additional pressures will not impact on teaching and learning directly, they will cause logistical pressures and reduce the flexibility of use of many of our rooms. We have decided therefore to cancel Open Day this year, and instead arrange times next term for parents to view their children's work. We shall confirm details of these arrangements at the end of this term.
