Miss McBride will also be leaving later this month. She has been an outstanding network manager who, working very effectively in partnership with Mr. Lewis, has created a superb IT infrastructure and website and has been fully involved in many areas of development across the school. For some months now, Miss McBride has been working part-time as a lecturer in tertiary education; she is to take up a full-time position in September as a stepping stone to fulfilling her dream of becoming a qualified teacher. We all wish her the very best for a successful career.
When announcing the allocation of teachers to classes last month we did not mention Ms Turner. Next year Ms Turner will step back from her pastoral role so that she can focus on developing Art. With the creation of the new art studio, and our recent award of the Artsmark Gold Award, Ms Turner is very keen to take art at St. Helen's College to new levels. Her new role as an art specialist teacher will give her the freedom to do so.
We have appointed Mr. David Evans, an Old Helenian, to join the staff in September as Bursar. Mr. Evans is a qualified teacher (an English specialist), educational researcher and administrator who is currently working at the National College of Nursing in Tokyo. His role at St. Helen's College will be to support Mr. Crehan closely with HR, regulatory compliance and financial matters. As an Old Helenian, he will also be responsible for developing links with alumni.
Finally, Mrs. Hopkins will return from her maternity leave is September to resume her role as SENCo, leading the learning support team, and as a History specialist teaching in Years 5 and 6.
