Please be advised that from October 1st the way in which we communicate with you is changing.
The school website will be upgraded 1st of October 2012.
From 1st October you must visit the website for news and resources, or alternatively subscribe yourself to email updates.
The existing VLE, and it's email facility, will shut down midnight 28th September 2012.
How will you communicate general information to me?
We will publish resources, news and documents to the "current parents" section of the new school website. We will no longer email you school news every week, unless you specifically subscribe yourself to the school news and/or class news blog.
What kind of information is on the new school website?
The school website will become the main repository of information for parents. You can read the school calendar, download school documents (weekly letter to lower parents, curriculum notes etc.) and read an informational blog from your child's class teacher.
How will I know when information has changed on the website?
We recommend you check the website once per week - news articles are generally updated on a Friday afternoon. If you would prefer to receive updates to your email, we recommend you subscribe to our school news blog and the relevant class blog.
Where did the newsletter go?
The newsletter has been replaced with the school news blog, updated every Friday afternoon. Read it online, or subscribe to have updates emailed direct to your inbox. We will email you a reminder (not the full newsletter) every Friday.
What happens to the VLE?
The VLE will shut down midnight September 28th. Please check the school website, as you would once have checked the VLE.
What will my child use?
Every child will be given access to a "Learning Portal". The portal is a collection of resources and applications aimed at actively supporting child learning, and at your child as audience. Information for parents will not appear here. Children will be given passwords, and gradually introduced to the portal over the coming term.
How will I know what homework my child has been given?
Your child's paper Homework Diary remains the primary source of information.
Under what circumstances will you email me?
We will email you when it is vital that you are aware of a situation, a situation requires action, or the information being sent is of a sensitive nature. We ask that you carefully read all correspondence to your email address, as it will generally require an action or response from you.
What email address will you contact me on?
We will use the email address(es) of the Priority 1 and Priority 2 contacts.
I don't want you to email me.
We can reduce the number of email addresses we send to, but we do require at least one active email address per family. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org including 1) the email address(es) you wish to have unlisted 2) your name and 3) your child's name. Changes will be applied after 22nd October - please bear with us in this period of transition.
