Junior Sports Day - Wednesday 26th June
Children should wear their correct Sports Day kit including a sun hat and bring sun cream, a track-suit or a waterproof depending on the weather. School bags should be left at home. They should also bring sufficient sustenance by way of healthy snacks (no sweets, chocolate etc.) and a named refillable water bottle (no fizzy drinks).
Parents may wish to bring their own refreshments - although there may be a coffee bar open, there will not be a formal interval and there may be queues. Parents may also wish to take folding chairs or blankets as the grandstand will be fully occupied with children.
Class teachers will look after and organise the children in the grandstand throughout the afternoon. Children should not go to their parents during the afternoon, and parents should not attempt to supply their children, during the afternoon, with extra food, drink or ice creams. Children will not return to their parents until the end of the afternoon following the presentations. The event should finish at approximately 5 p.m. Please note children will not return to school and that there will be no Funtasia. Year 2 children remain at school and may use Funtasia at Lower School on this day. Please note that parents will need to collect Year 2 Funtasia children from Lower School.
A few important points:
· Car parking is available in the ‘Pay and Display’ car park which is part of the Leisure Complex development. All parents should park here; however if this car park becomes full please park away from the complex and walk. Only staff and parent helpers may park outside the track reception in the track car park.
· We hope to carry on with the event even if the weather is poor. The stadium has an all-weather track and covered seating.
· Parents are asked to remain on the outside of the oval track. Competitors and officials will operate on the inside. With up to six events taking place simultaneously, the staff, parent helpers and our sports leaders will have their hands full marshalling the children and judging the events, and this will be made easier by such 'segregation'.
· Please keep any young children with you and prevent them from straying onto the track.
· Please be aware of security and do not leave valuables unattended.
Each child will participate in a minimum of one running, one jumping and one throwing event, giving a broad range of the athletic disciplines. The children have been asked to select three events – one track event (running) and one throwing and one jumping event – and we will make every effort to offer them at least one of these. In addition the fastest children in their houses will be selected to represent their house in relays. Event selection is a complex task and takes into account the child’s strengths and technical ability, the events completed in previous years and grouping pupils as much as possible by ability range so all participants have a chance to do well. The children will be notified of their events a few weeks before Sports Day and no changes to event selection will then be made. They will then practice their events in games lessons in the lead up to Sports Day.
We look forward to seeing you on the day. Fingers crossed for fine weather!
Summer Concert - Thursday 4th July
The arrangements are as follows.
Tuesday 2nd July

Wednesday 3rd July
Performance to school pupils. Children in all classes (except Y6, who will be rehearsing their own play) will attend so that they can watch the Concert. Please deliver your child to the Winston Churchill Hall by 8.30 a.m. (Years 1 and 2) and by 8:40 a.m. (all other year groups). The children will return to school by coach for their normal lunch.
Thursday 4th July
School will finish promptly at 12.00 p.m. for Years 1 and 2 and the children should be collected at this time by their parents. (All other children will have a normal school day.) The Year 1 and 2 children should arrive at the Winston Churchill Hall at 1 p.m. so that we can be ready for a 1.30 p.m. start.
The concert should end at about 3 p.m. at which time you will be able to collect your child from the foyer. Please note that children will not be available for collection before the whole concert is over. There should be good time to get to school to collect siblings - if necessary, however, they will be looked after by their form teachers until you arrive.
Entrance will be by ticket only - they are now available from school at £7 for adults and £4 for children. Please order tickets using the enclosed booking form.
Parents are respectfully reminded that very young children can become fidgety and noisy and can spoil the concert for the performers and audience. If this happens to you, a tactical withdrawal would be appreciated!
