1S did a very colourful assembly on Chinese New Year. They enacted the famous race with all the animals and gave us facts about how Chinese New Year is celebrated. They told us the characteristics of the children born the year that they were born. They also sang some New Year songs plus playing instruments and waving ribbons, so a feast of colour and sound. We were also treated to a dragon weaving its way through the children!
4T did an assembly on Electricity. They were depleted in number as there had been a major road closure that morning meaning that some children hadn't arrived in time but they still managed an energising performance, giving us facts about electricity circuits, famous inventors, a sparkling presentation on safety in the home plus an electrifying poem and song. A sizzling assembly!
The 6L Assembly was a masterful dramatic presentation, containing humour and poignancy. They showed life in the 1940s through song, drama and poetry. They gave us a slice of life as it was then, probably unbelievable to the young audience, but we had a bit of humour with the Home Guard, plus a great characterisation of an old lady telling it how it was with a gas mask, and even an impression of Winston Churchill! If they had the time it would have been a great cameo of the 1940s to take to the local old people's homes to stir up memories....
