There were World Book Day assemblies at both sites. At Middle and Upper School assemblies, pupils spoke in character spontaneously, including a Hamlet soliloquy! At Lower School, the Rainbow Nursery performed two mini musicals on The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood. They had learnt their parts beautifully and really threw themselves into their acting with some very wicked wolves who starred in both plays! The children had also learnt many songs. It was very entertaining and the children were really confident in their performing.
Visiting author Marcia Williams inspired children with her storytelling and her enthusiasm has certainly given some pupils aspirations to become famous writers! All classes from Upper School visited Lower School as 'reading buddies' and read to the Lower School children. As you can imagine, this is a wonderful experience for both age groups.
Many classes enjoyed Mad Hatter's Tea Parties, where they recommended books to each other, and the catering staff put on an 'Alice in Wonderland' themed lunch service, with 'Eat Me' and 'Drink Me' signs and colourful cupcakes on offer for dessert, served by The White Rabbit! Year 6 children even participated in a croquet lesson during PE, to extend the Alice in Wonderland theme further!
It was a wonderful day, and it was super to see learning being brought alive for the pupils across the school in such a special way. Our thanks go to all of the staff, parents and pupils who participated with such enthusiasm.
