Year 5 returned to school this week, having spent an action packed week on the Isle of Wight. They began their trip at the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth and the museum staff all commented on the children's exemplary behaviour and commended them for the excellent questions they asked. They then spent the rest of the week at the Kingswood Centre, where their activities focussed on team work, resilience and challenge. Their exciting activities included the 3G swing, the leap of faith, abseiling, climbing, problem solving and team tech, to name but a few. The children attempted each activity with enthusiasm and courage and were able to support and encourage each other to achieve their goals. All of the staff were extremely proud of the children and their team work throughout the week.
Well done to all of the instrumentalists who played, either solo or in ensembles, at our Musicians' Concert on Thursday evening. As ever, the standard was very high and the performances were greatly enjoyed by the audience.
5W did a wonderful recount of their time at Kingswood last week. They took us through all their exciting moments, illustrated by photos and 'shout-outs'. The children spoke with passion that showed their enjoyment but also their appreciation of how the challenging experiences had helped them to face fears and appreciate the support of their friends. They ended with a great song in 2 parts that spoke about feeling strong in themselves, which was exactly the value that they had demonstrated during their assembly.
