The Year 6 musical is a hugely exciting event. Every child at St. Helen's College performs in a stage production at least once a year during their time here and all of their experience builds towards this final production. The standards children achieve in singing, acting and stagecraft are very high indeed and many people have commented over the years on the incredible performances the school has put on. We are sure that this year will be no exception!
'Fiddler on the Roof' is, of course, a well-known and much-loved stage musical and film. The story tells of a poor dairyman who tries to instil in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing times and adversity. The universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness. The show features a star turn in Tevye, among the most memorable roles in musical theatre, and has a good balance of male and female parts.
We hope that many families and pupils throughout the school will come and see this production on Thursday 11th July (2.00 p.m. & 7.30 p.m.) and Friday 12th July (7.30 p.m.). Tickets are available now directly from The Compass Theatre Box Office and can be booked online at www.compasstheatre.co.uk or by calling 01895 673200. Children will be allowed to miss school to attend the Thursday matinee performance at 2 p.m.
