This week's Safety and Well-being focus week has been highly successful and achieved its aims of sending out positive messages to our pupils and parents about how to keep safe and well in many different ways. Our 'Creative Relaxation' sessions on Monday promoted mental and emotional well-being and pupils learnt useful relaxation techniques. Tuesdays 'Heartstart' activities taught our pupils valuable emergency life support skills and what to do to help someone in a medical emergency. Internet safety was our theme on Wednesday and knowing not to give personal information to strangers on the internet was a valuable message for us all. Road safety activities were delivered across the school on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday by the London Borough of Hillingdon Road Safety Team. We have also appointed 6 Junior Road Safety Officers from Year 5 who will promote activities, competitions and sessions about road safety to their peers over the next year. Friday's focus on healthy eating was led by a fantastic assembly by 5S entitled 'Give me Five', which really got the message across about eating five portions of fruit or vegetable each day. The children at Upper School were then able to pick up a free taster at our 'health snack shack' at morning break provided by our welfare officer Miss Lang. We would like to encourage parents to talk to their children about what they have learnt this week and to practise some of the techniques with them during half term.
