At both Upper and Lower School, we are selling red noses in the school offices. This year, there are a very few golden noses hidden in among the red ones and any child who finds a golden nose will win a prize. If your child has not yet bought a red nose (or several!) then please do allow them to do so, as they will no doubt wish to wear their red noses on Comic Relief Day.
There will be a whole school Tog Day on the day itself, Friday 13th March. Pupils are asked to wear red with the option of painting their face "funny". Minimum suggested donation £2. Other events on the day are as follows.
All classes throughout the school are invited to take part in our 'Jokeathon' - children should pay £1 per joke to tell jokes to their classmates. We hope they will have fun looking up jokes, or perhaps making up their own, and we look forward to hearing them!
At Upper School, Year 4 children will be taking part in a sponsored times tables test. Please do support your children in revising their tables, and encourage family and friends to be generous with sponsorship.
At Lower School, children will be able to decorate a crepe with a glazed cherry (red nose) and strawberry sauce, and/or decorate a biscuit to create a funny face. A donation of 50p will be requested for each activity, or £1 to take part in both.
We are sure that pupils will have a wonderful, laughter-filled day. They will also learn about the very serious and important work carried out by Comic Relief, and be able to see what a huge difference their donations will make to children in the UK and around the world.
Many thanks, as always, for your support.
It is also an opportunity for prospective parents to visit and see what goes on at the school. If you know somebody who you think might be interested in sending their child to St. Helen’s College, do tell them about Open Day and ask them to telephone the school to make an appointment. Most families come to the school through personal recommendation, and your support in continuing this tradition would be greatly appreciated. We are sending home, today, a few leaflets to pass to friends or post on notice boards at work or in local shop windows or libraries. Do ask if you can make good use of additional leaflets!
