The week continued with classes learning about Geography and Sustainability in many different ways. Nursery and Reception classes used their topic 'Your World, My World' to look at the different experiences of children around the world. Year 1 children learnt all about the rainforest and Year 2 compared different foods from around the world. Year 3 learnt all about Fairtrade products, Year 4 investigated food waste, Year 5 looked at the eco-footprints of products and Year 6 concentrated on climate change.
At Upper School, visiting workshops taught children all about alternative energy. Pupils investigated wind power and how it can be used to make wind-powered cars. They also looked at solar power, making their own solar-powered cells. At Lower School, pupils enjoyed paper-making workshops, learning how to recycle paper to make more paper.
A Fairtrade cafe was held at Upper School on Friday, at which pupils were able to buy Fairtrade products including hot chocolate, biscuits and bananas. As you can imagine, it was very popular! Parents were also served with Fairtrade products at the two coffee mornings this week, and asked to make donations.
Throughout the week, we have been raising money for About Asia, to help children in Cambodia. We thank all parents and children for their generosity - so far we have raised £653.51!
