Our pupils are leaving their own London 2012 legacy and their message to future pupils is get set for the future and Rio 2016! Our time capsule was officially buried by Paralympic silver medalists Andy Lapthorne and fellow wheelchair tennis GB team member Marc McCarroll on 11th December, and a small plaque has been mounted on the raised flower bed at the front of Upper School to mark the spot. We plan to open the time capsule on 9th February 2016, Mardi Gras Day, when we will launch the countdown to the 2016 Rio games with a Rio style carnival day! Our 2016 pupils will be able to share the messages sent to them by our current pupils and find out more about how the London games affected us all this summer.
Finally some exciting news. We entered a national competition with the British Olympic and Paralympic Associations, who now run the Get Set programme, for the best ideas for items to go in our time capsule and how to deliver a legacy and we are very pleased to announce that we won! Our prize is a visit from a Team GB athlete! We don't know who yet we will find out early next term. Well done to everyone who helped to make the time capsule project such as success!
