Following overwhelming interest in girls football this term from our Year 4, 5 and 6 girls, we took two teams to the Borough girls football tournament this week. The event, held at Guru Nanak Sikh Academy, was played on astro pitches under floodlights and despite the cold temperatures our parent spectators kept warm, cheering and jumping up and down when our teams scored! Each of our teams played three matches in their groups. Our A team played St. Andrew's, winning 2 - 0, then narrowly lost to Ryefield A 1 - 0 and finally battled through to beat Cherry Lane 1 - 0. Our B team played Dr. Tripletts, losing 2 -0, then convincingly beat Ryefield B 4 - 0 and finally played St. Bernadette's A, narrowly losing 1 - 0. After the group stages our A team narrowly missed out, on count back of goals scored, on progressing to the semi finals. All our girls played with courage and determination, gained valuable experience for the future and had lots of fun. Well done to everyone.
