Many congratulations to the pupils who sat ABRSM examinations at the end of last term. We celebrated their exam successes at our music assembly this week, at which Sarah (centre) played violin and all of the children received their certificates. From left to right, they are: Saajan (Grade 1 clarinet - distinction), Arushika (Grade 4 violin - pass), Reenal (Grade 4 flute - merit), Freddie (Grade 3 clarinet - merit), Sarah (Grade 1 violin - merit), Libby (Piano prep), Emily (Grade 2 flute - merit) and Krishna (Grade 2 flute - merit). Super results - well done to all those involved!
If you have not already done so, please make a note in your diary of the date for our summer Instrumentalists' Concert (Thursday May 9th, 7 p.m.). This event is always extremely enjoyable and well-attended. We would like to encourage all parents, students, family and friends to come along, whether your child is performing or not. If your child is not yet learning an instrument, this is the perfect opportunity for them to see what they could be achieving! The concert will take place at All Saints' Church. No tickets are required.
On Tuesday 21st May we will be holding our annual Singing Competition. Entry to the competition is voluntary and children must give their entry on paper to the office by Friday 17th May. The competition will run for Year 2 to Year 6. We have three categories:
1) best solo singer;
2) best duet - singing in harmony;
3) best group - singing in harmony.
The children will need to provide a score for Mrs. Allery to accompany or a karaoke-style CD for accompaniment. This is essential and the children will not be allowed to enter without some form of accompaniment (but not with singing already on the CD). The music can be popular or traditional, but not rap!
