It is also an opportunity for prospective parents to visit and see what goes on at the school. If you know somebody who you think might be interested in sending their child to St. Helen’s College, do tell them about Open Day and ask them to phone and make an appointment. Most families come to the school through personal recommendation, and your support in continuing this tradition is greatly appreciated. We shall send you, via book bags, a few leaflets to pass to friends or family. Do ask if you can make good use of additional leaflets!
Please note that Open Day is not the time to speak to the teachers about your children’s progress. The teachers need to be available to greet and chat to the many parents and visitors, and will not be able to engage in one-to-one consultations.
We hope that you will all come with your children to view the school. Children should wear their school uniforms. Do explore the school fully and visit both the Lower and Upper Schools - the younger children can then see what to expect for the future, while the older ones can reminisce about their infant days.
Parents have always been very generous with flowers for Open Day. We would be very grateful indeed if, on Friday 18th March, you would kindly send some flowers from your garden to decorate the classrooms. If you were able to lend us vases (non-precious) it would be very helpful. Do ensure that your vase is labelled with your name. Parents are reminded that Friday 18th March is a half day and that there will be no Funtasia on this day. School will finish at 11:50 for Nursery; 12:00 for Reception; 12:10 for Years 1 and 2; 12:20 for Years 3 and 4; and 12:30 for Years 5 and 6. Older siblings will be released at the same time as their younger brothers and sisters.
Parking close to the school will not be easy on Open Day, owing to the number of parents visiting. It would be most helpful, to reduce congestion, if as many parents as possible would park away from the school, perhaps in neighbouring side streets, and walk to the school. The Windsor (Long Lane) gate will be open. Please remember the school parking regulations, and in particular:
Lower School - Do not block neighbours' drives, and do not park on the church forecourt/car park.
Upper School - Do not park in Parkway and keep the entry & exit lanes free in the car park.
