All but one of the children who applied for independent schools have been offered places, in many cases at more than one school, and the vast majority at their first choice school. Of the 24 who applied to independent schools, one in three (8 children) have been offered, between them, a total of 10 Scholarships (9 last year). This is a fantastic result - our best Scholarship results ever - and particularly pleasing given that a number of our most able children did not sit for independent schools this year.
So, many congratulations to Aarian L (Sports Scholarship at The John Lyon School), Adeen (Academic Scholarships at The Abbey, Reading, St. Joseph's, Reading and Northwood College), Anneka (Academic Scholarship at Notting Hill and Ealing High), Aria (Academic Scholarship at Lady Eleanor Holles School), Kareena (Drama Scholarship at St. Helen's, Northwood), Rex (Academic Scholarship at The John Lyon School), Rhys (Music Scholarship at the Purcell School) and Sahar (Academic Scholarship at St. Mary's, Gerrards Cross).
The children who sat for Grammar School have also done exceptionally well. 82% (27 out of 33) of the children who sat them passed the Grammar School tests (77% last year). This is a fantastic result which compares very favourably indeed with the overall average Grammar School pass rate of 30% for all schools.
Many congratulations to all of Year 6, who have managed to combine academic brilliance with a huge commitment to sporting, musical, dramatic and aesthetic activities in and out of school, and have been great role models for the younger pupils all year.
