Relay is a community-led, non-athletic event where teams fundraise, and then join together in the Relay event. There, teams take it in turns to walk round a track for up to 24 hours to signify that "cancer never sleeps". We formed as a team when we lost our colleague, Sarah Swain, and we have "Relayed" each year since then. We have recently committed to Relay 2014 and are now asking for your support.
Many members of staff and their families will take part in the Relay for Life event in Harrow on 6th September and we would love parents and families to join us. It would involve registering for a small fee and then maintaining a walking relay from about 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. We will also be selling candle bags (more information will follow in due course) and organising the Candle Ceremony.
There will also be several events happening at school during the rest of the summer term for Relay, including a 'pink and blue' cake sale in Year 5 next Thursday (19th June). We will also be selling pink Relay flowers through both the Upper and Lower School offices for a suggested donation of £2 each. These will be lovely for girls to wear in their hair, for boys to wear as a buttonhole or as a gift for mothers, grandmothers or friends. Please encourage your children to get involved, to have fun and raise money for this very worthy cause. The retiring collection after the Singers' Concert last night raised £118.12. Thanks, to those who attended, for their generosity.
