The categories are:
1) Best solo singer
2) Best duet (there must be an element of harmony)
3) Best group (an element of harmony or vocal arrangement - there could be dance included).
Please remind your children to register their items with the school office as soon as they have decided.
They will need either a piano accompaniment which needs to be given to Mrs. Belvoir or Mrs. Allery at least a week before the competition, or a CD backing track with no voice already on the recording.
There will be winners in the Year 2-3 section and Year 4-6 section; they will receive a prize and the opportunity to sing at the Singers' Concert and at the School Fete.
Eurotalk Language Challenge
The first round of the competition runs online, so the children can listen, play and learn on computers at school or at home. The highest scorers go on to regional semi-finals and a grand final in London with the chance of winning the top prize of a family holiday to Africa. Three years ago, a St. Helen's College pupil won the grand prize and there is no reason why, with similar dedication, one of the school's current pupils should not repeat this success! Please let Mrs. Stark know by email if you would like to enter as soon as possible, so that she can register your child. Please do encourage your children to enter.
Primary Maths Challenge Success!
Some of the questions in the bonus paper would challenge many adults. Only 50 Gold medals were awarded, and 153 children who scored between 20 and 22 out of 25 were awarded Silver medals. Navika's score of 21 put her well within the top 200, or 0.25%, of all entrants.
