The team participated on Saturday morning in the 6-a-side Packham Cup Tournament, winning 1, drawing 2 and losing 1. They finished the group stage with 5 points, hoping this would be enough to see us into the quarter finals. Unfortunately it turned out not to be quite enough to get us through on that occasion. Nevertheless, the team is playing some very good football and are improving every match. Team members were: Ayaan, Ethan, James K, Ben, Sam Y, Sam E, Akash and Joe. Well done to all!
Girls from Years 4-6 took part in the District girls' football tournament this week against schools from Hillingdon, Uxbridge and Hayes. Our squad of players played very well in their first match against St. Bernadette's, winning 2 - 0. Mia scored both times with a burst of speed through to goal. Their second match was very close against a very confident Dr. Triplett's team; however, some terrific defending and goalkeeping by Olivia and Abigail kept St. Helen's College in the match to secure a 0 - 0 draw. In the final group match our team faced the group leaders, Hayes Park School, who had defeated both St. Bernadette's and Dr. Triplett's convincingly in earlier rounds and were poised to go through as group leaders. The St. Helen's College girls showed some true grit and battled for every ball and their resolve was rewarded with a excellent finish by Mia to score the only goal of the match and send St. Helen's College through to the semi finals. In the semi finals they played St. Andrew's School and, although the St. Helen's College team played very well, St. Andrew's maintained most of the possession and eventually scored to win the match. Well done to all the girls in the team who showed great sportsmanship and showed they really enjoy playing football. Team members were Vy, Elsie, Sophie, Helina, Tito, Libby, Dayna, Yasmin, Olivia, Mia and Abigail.
Our netball teams have had a good start to the netball season this term with some sound results. In the local league our Y6 teams have played three matches and won three matches, winning 6 - 3 against Hermitage, 12 - 1 against Heathrow and 16 - 0 against Cowley St. Lawrence. Our Y4 teams went to Bishopsgate School in Egham this term to play their first netball match but unfortunately only managed to play for 8 minutes before rain and lightning stopped play. We hope to have another couple of fixtures for them next term.
