Our team of Y5 and Y6 pupils competed in the School Games district sports hall athletics heats this week against teams from Botwell House, Cherry Lane, Glebe and Cranford Park at Barnhill Community School. The team of 6 boys and 6 girls competed in a variety of running, jumping and throwing events and performed very well, gaining 1st or 2nd places in many events and ensuring that the team gained lots of points in the competition. After the final relay the results were announced and there were only 8 points between 1st and 2nd place but Cherry Lane scored 168 points and St. Helen's College scored 176! St. Helen's College won the event and now progress to the Borough finals on Wed 28th January. Well done to all team members: Alex J, Lewis , Sam Y, Ayomide, Ayobami, Shaan, Olivia, Libby, Yasmin, Tise, Navika, Sophie H and top team supporter Sam Feast!
Last Friday five children represented St. Helen's College in the Primary School Quicksticks Hockey Tournament at the Harefield Academy. 24 teams took part. St. Helen's College were in a group of four and we won two of the group games, losing one, which meant that we progressed through to the last sixteen knock out stages. In the first knock out match, we beat Warrender 1-0, then in the quarter final we beat Bourne 1-0, setting up a local derby against St. Andrew's in the semi. We managed to win the semi final 2-1 to book a place in the grand final against Breakspear. Unfortunately, we lost the final 2-1 in a hard-fought eight minute match. The team showed tremendous spirit, attitude and determination on a wet and windy evening and should be proud of themselves. Many thanks to the parents who braved the weather to support the team. Team members were: Olivia L, Dayna V, Alex J, Sam Y and Ayomide A.
