We have decided not to try to find a replacement teacher, but rather to link up with the Lyn Chilvers School of Dancing, run by another very experienced and successful teacher. This school of dancing meets most afternoons and on Saturdays at the Methodist church hall, so will be very convenient for St. Helen's College families. Quite a few St. Helen's pupils have attended classes there and have reported very positively on the quality of teaching. The co-curriculum programme for next term, which will be published next week, contains further information on the changes.
Mrs. Sherry Waller joins the staff next week as an additional lunch assistant at the Upper School. We have a beautiful natural environment on our doorstep in the shape of Court Park and are keen to make more use of it. An extra lunch assistant will allow us to take children to the park during the lunch hours for walks, nature hunts and games.
Mr. Jack Bustard joined us this week as a sports teaching assistant. Mr. Bustard is training to become a teacher and will work with our sports department part-time supporting a range of lessons and clubs.
Next term, Mr. Charlie Keen will join the staff as a Year 3 teaching assistant. He will replace Mrs. Pandya who is about to begin a course of teacher training, based here at St. Helen's. Mrs. Pandya will continue with her excellent work in the learning support department.
