We were treated to two super Valentine's Day assemblies this week, by R1 and 2C. We hope you will enjoy these photos as much as we enjoyed seeing the children perform.
On Monday 10th February children from Years 3 - 6 had the exciting opportunity to show off their vast general knowledge and partake in the General Knowledge Quiz Championship at Northwood Preparatory School. The children had been studying various topics in their weekly General Knowledge Club session and were excited to put their new found knowledge into action. There were 12 teams and St. Helen's College worked extremely well, with the A team finishing in a very respectable 4th and the B team in a close 12th. The questions challenged the children on a variety of subjects including space expeditions, composers, mathematical equations and historical facts. We are extremely proud of both teams and hope to return next year to challenge Northwood Prep for the title!
Our Year 6 pupils took part in the District Handball Tournament held at Swakeleys School on Saturday. In the noisy and excited atmosphere of the indoor sports hall, watching parents cheered on the teams as they competed in some fast moving matches. Both our teams played well and made improvements to their play as the morning progressed and they got used to the pace of the games, and Miss Walker and Mr. Bustard were very impressed with how hard everyone worked. Our A team managed to progress through to the quarter finals where they met a strong Hillingdon team and they narrowly lost. Well done to everyone who took part: Sumeet, Kiran, Aarian, Dylan, Rex, Ajay, Muntasir, Shivraj, Kareena, Sahar, Aria, Maegan, Anneka and Shayla.
This week our Year 4, 5 and 6 hockey players took part in a two team round robin hockey match against Whitehall School. This was the first opportunity for some of the younger players to play hockey competitively. The St. Helen's College teams won all of the matches quite comfortably and all of the players seemed to thoroughly enjoy the afternoon. Congratulations and well played to all those pupils who took part.
