During the month of October as part of the international “Walk to School” Month, London Borough of Hillingdon Road Safety team ran a competition aimed at promoting sustainable travel to and from our schools and raising an awareness of the environment around us. Pupils in the Upper School were invited to submit a short story about 'A Journey To School.’ Many of our pupils did and we are delighted to announce that two of our pupils , Charlotte H and Victoria P, are borough winners! Their stories have been selected to be published in the borough book of the top 50 stories and they have won themselves a Kindle each! They will be invited to visit the Civic Centre in the new year to receive their prize and see their story published. In the meantime they have been awarded with a certificate and special badge in assembly. In addition the other 27 pupils who took part in the writing competition have also been awarded a certificate and small prize. We were so impressed with the children's efforts we are going to publish all these short stories in our own St. Helen's College collection of short stories which will be available next year.
