To help to instil a love of learning, we enrich the curriculum at St. Helen’s College in many ways.
All children enjoy termly day trips to castles, museums, gardens and theatres. The older children attend residential trips to Shortenills Environmental Centre for outside study and creative writing enhancement, to Flatford Mill field study centre for ecological, artistic and nature studies, Kingswood on the Isle of Wight to study coastal erosion and to experience adventurous outdoor activities, and Chateau de la Baudonierre in Normandy for a week of immersion in French language and culture.
Specialist tutors and speakers visit the school to provide workshops, activities and presentations, while Focus Weeks allow individual subjects to take the limelight and be pursued in depth.
In addition, our regular class assemblies and singing, talent and poetry festivals at school, along with plays, concerts and musicals in local churches and theatres, provide ample opportunities for the children’s remarkable talents to be presented on stage.
