Welcome to Pre-Prep

Our Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children build strong foundations for lifelong learning in reading, writing, mathematics and science – providing the essential tools that enable them to understand the world, think critically, and communicate effectively. While a focus on academic achievement is key to success, we believe that opportunities beyond the curriculum are just as important for every child’s happiness and development.

Character education is sensitively woven throughout the curriculum, shaping teaching and learning. This approach helps our children develop not only intellectual skills but also a deeper understanding of wider values, such as kindness and empathy, and fosters a sense of responsibility toward themselves, others, and the world.

Together, these core areas establish the intellectual and cognitive foundations upon which all other learning can grow. Our children gain confidence and competence in these fundamental subjects and stand better prepared to explore broader disciplines, engage with complex ideas, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

From thoughtful interactions during circle time to reflections in mindfulness or discussing ‘big’ philosophical ideas, our children grow into active learners who approach the world with wonder and curiosity. Every learning opportunity is carefully planned to allow our children to question, debate, collaborate and problem-solve from a very young age.

We believe in making learning active so that every child wants to learn more, and opportunities are built into the curriculum to give our children the confidence and motivation to embrace the next steps in their educational journey.
