Co-curricular activities allow children to explore their interests and develop their talents at the same time as having fun!
The St. Helen’s College philosophy is that, from a young age, our pupils should have the opportunity to try as many different activities as possible, to give them the widest possible chance of discovering a lifelong passion or talent.
Opportunities for every child
Our co-curricular programme is therefore unique and very diverse. All pupils are encouraged to take a full part in the programme, and participation levels are high. A wide variety of traditional and non-traditional creative, academic, dramatic, musical and sporting clubs are offered throughout the year to all year groups from Reception to Year 6.
Each term’s programme is published to parents, who make bookings for clubs through their SchoolsBuddy account.
Most clubs are available to all children in the relevant year group(s); some clubs are ‘by invitation’ to selected children only following auditions, team trials etc.
There are so many activities. There really is something for everyone.
Wraparound Care
The St. Helen’s College Wraparound Care services are available to children from Reception to Year 6 and provide a seamless and flexible service to support busy working parents. Our clubs are led by our own staff, many of whom have worked at St. Helen’s College for many years and are very familiar to the children and their families.
Funtasia Breakfast Club
Our Breakfast Club runs from 7.30 a.m. to 8.00 a.m. every school day. Children are provided with a healthy breakfast and may take part in quiet activities. They are supervised by the staff, who then accompany the children to join their classes.
Funtasia After School Club
Our After School Club runs from 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. every school day, at both the Upper and the Lower School. The children are given time to play, after which they have a light tea together. Homework follows for the older children, then the children take part in a wide range of activities, which might include football or tennis in the playground, computing, cooking, art and craft, playing with toys, scrambling on the adventure playground, or quietly drawing, reading or colouring.
Funtasia Holiday Club
The Holiday Club runs throughout the school holidays, with a break only at Christmas. It is run by the After School Club staff and even some of our teaching staff who choose to work during the holidays, so there are many familiar faces for the children. They enjoy a programme of fun activities, with a different theme each week or holiday period. Recent themes have included Easter, Tropical Islands and Well Being.
