Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, some staff and pupils are temporarily working from home.
In line with Government guidance, the school site is open for Kindergarten, Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 but temporarily closed to children in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5. We continue to support the children of key workers at school to allow their parents to continue their critical work outside of their homes, contributing to the fight against Coronavirus and Covid-19.
St. Helen's College remains committed to providing the excellent education for which we are known, and for driving forward the aims and values on which we are based. We have robust, well-developed remote learning systems in place, with which pupils, parents and staff are familiar. These systems have been used for some time to support our flipped learning model. We are currently, through our online platforms, delivering age-appropriate teaching to pupils and families who are not able to attend the school site. The many ways of learning we are supporting include online lessons delivered through video conferencing and other interactive tools, video content and text-based work. Our dedicated teaching staff are, with parental support, continuing to mark children's work and give feedback to pupils and parents.
We have been using many of these online systems successfully in school for some years, but the unprecedented situation in which we find ourselves is presenting an exciting opportunity for us to expand our online resources and expertise. We are confident that the work we are currently doing will offer long term benefits to parents, pupils and staff too.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank every member of our community for their support during the situation in which we all find ourselves, and to wish everyone well.
Take care, stay safe and keep in touch.
With warm wishes,
Shirley Drummond, Head Dominic and Jill Crehan, Proprietors
